Marble-Effect Bathroom Tiling Project in London

Bathroom tiles need to handle daily moisture while creating a finish that feels clean and well planned. At Abel Tiler, we complete bathroom tiling projects across London, working carefully around windows, plumbing connections, shower areas and other fixed features.

For this project, we installed large-format cream marble-effect wall tiles with contrasting blue marble-effect tiles across the floor and shower feature wall. Three recessed storage niches were finished with matching blue tiles, connecting the practical storage area with the wider bathroom design.

Creating Contrast with Cream and Blue Tiles

The main goal was to create a bright bathroom with a strong feature area rather than using the same tile finish on every surface. Light cream tiles were chosen for the main walls, helping the room feel more open and reflecting natural light from the two windows.

The shower area provided an opportunity to introduce contrast. Large blue tiles with prominent white and grey veining were used to create a full-height feature wall. The same finish was carried into the three vertically arranged storage niches, establishing a clear visual link between the different sections of the room.

The project required careful planning around the windows, concealed plumbing points, shower fittings and niche openings. With large-format tiles, the position of every joint and cut affects the balance of the finished design.

Installing the Feature Wall and Recessed Niches

We began by planning the layout of the large-format tiles across the floor and walls. We considered how the joints would meet the windows, shower area and storage niches before fixing the first tile.

The blue marble-effect floor tiles were positioned to create a balanced layout across the available area. Their large size reduces the number of grout joints and allows the detailed veining to remain prominent. Each tile was measured, cut and placed carefully to maintain a consistent finish.

For the main walls, we installed cream marble-effect tiles using levelling clips and laser guides. These tools helped us keep the tiles aligned and minimise height differences between adjoining surfaces. This was particularly important because the polished finish reflects light and makes uneven placement easier to notice.

Detailed measuring and cutting were required around both windows. We planned the tile positions so that the openings remained framed by clean edges without unnecessary narrow pieces. The window reveals and sill areas were also tiled to continue the finish into each opening.

The three recessed niches needed particular attention. Each opening was measured separately, and the inner surfaces were finished with blue feature tiles. We kept the edges straight and the joints coordinated with the surrounding cream wall tiles. These niches add practical storage while becoming a deliberate part of the design.

In the shower area, we installed the blue marble-effect tiles as a full-height feature surface. The direction and positioning of the veining were considered as the tiles were placed, helping the individual pieces read as one connected design rather than unrelated sections.

We also cut the tiles accurately around the concealed controls, pipework and shower fittings. Once the main installation was complete, we finished the joints and checked the surfaces, corners and transitions for alignment and consistency.

A Bright Bathroom with a Coordinated Feature Design

The completed tiling gives the bathroom a bright and spacious appearance while retaining a distinctive focal point. Cream marble-effect walls provide a calm background, and the blue feature tiles introduce colour, movement and contrast.

The aligned joints, carefully finished window areas and accurately tiled niches demonstrate the attention given to each part of the installation. Repeating the blue finish across the floor, shower wall and niches helps the different surfaces feel connected.

This project represents our approach to bathroom tiling: thoughtful layout planning, precise cutting and consistent installation across every visible surface.
